CT angiography is not suitable for screening damage of blood vessel of brain
February 9th 2011- New York-a study group come from Memphis, Tennessee university p says, CT angiography identify damage that caused by blunt which the sensitivity is about half of the digital subtraction angiography. In the surgery yearbook magazine of the journal of three articles published by study group, the study authors pointed out that it can cause stroke if blunt damage of blood vessel of brain could not be identified. Many organizations have replaced CT angiography (CTA) by Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) to screening blunt injury of blood vessel of brain.
We hope the 64 row CTA can provide higher sensitivity in future even it will cause medical x-ray, but we believe DSA is always diagnostic stander after proving CTA can provide high sensitive data. Dr Fabian add that blunt injury of blood vessel of brain can cause catastrophic stroke in young patients.
