Image Enhancement Software to Reduce the Need for Re-imaging
A new image enhancement system reduces the need for re-imaging, and the radiation exposure to patients.
The new technology was awarded the key Technology prize for annual global Frost & Sullivan 2007 image enhancement markets. Contextvision Company (Stockholm, Sweden; www.contextvision.com) released GOPView XR2-ADi software which expanded the scope and impact of its unique GOP (Image Group) technology. In addition, the new feature of adaptive image enhancement system has created new opportunities for the X-ray machine market which has become saturated.
"Compared with similar competing products, GOPView XR2-ADi owns several new features and improved features such as automatic data identification, optimum image density, the more clear details of small structures and, most importantly, low-noise characteristics," Ranjit Ravindranathan, Frost & Sullivan Company's research analysts, pointed out that "this may prompt clinical and radiological community to adopt this solution quickly."
In support of rapid, high-quality imaging, the software not only reduces the need for re-imaging and patient radiation exposure, but also reduce the use of equipment, thus increasing the device life. ADI algorithm also reduces the "burning through" effect to maximum extent in soft tissue X-ray imaging which often happens, thereby eliminating the need for operation of too many images in the window width and window level.
The new technology also has an effective solution to the density change.
"GOPView XR2-ADi settings can be specified and specificly optimized for the structure in producing," Ravindranathan added," It provides the Physicians and radiological physicians a quick and clear acquisition results and real-time information of functional anatomy."
It can easily and quickly provide patients such an important diagnostic information, which will promote the system integrators of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to adopt the software. Contextvision company launched GOPView XR2-ADi a technically effective solution to the urgent needs, that is, lower noise, enhanced contrast , compressed dynamic range and lower radiation dose. This, in turn, promoted clinical safer and more efficient diagnostic equipment to be available.
"Its potential may be proved by the following facts: several large OEM [original equipment manufacturers] have accepted the technology and have integrated into their products," Ravindranathan concluded that " complete function of GOPView XR2-Adi will benefit the entire imaging market, and bring Contextvision significant market advantage."
Frost & Sullivan's annual prize for the development of key technologies will award the companies that can benefit or change the whole industry. Winners' solutions clear the major obstacle in technology development.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Award is in recognition of those companies which has made great success and achievements in the regional and global markets, involving leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Frost & Sullivan (Palo Alto, CA USA; www.frost.com) is a growing international consulting firm.
