Six things you can do to get rid of cold

Winter is the season to come down with colds. When the sniffles, sneezing, and sore throat set it, it's a sure sign a dreadful cold is on its way. Unfortunately, nothing can actually cure the common cold yet. The good news: here are six tips for you to relieve the symptoms at the very beginning- without all the drugs.
1. Chicken soup
A bowl of warm chicken soup does make you feel better when you're sick. This time-tested remedy contains cysteine, an amino acid that's chemically similar to a bronchitis drug to help reduce inflammation.
2. Stay hydrated.
Water, juice, clear broth or warm lemon water with honey helps loosen congestion and prevents dehydration. Consuming vitamin C, which is an antioxidant, can help strengthen your immune system so as to help your body heal faster.
3. Take a hot bath
Steam moisturizes your nasal passages so they feel less irritated, and the relaxing effect will help ease your cold symptoms. Draw yourself a hot bath and take a dip, or start each day during the duration of your cold with a nice hot shower so you benefit from plenty of steam.
4. Avoid intensive workout
If you have a cold and feel miserable, take a break. Remember, if you do choose to exercise when you're sick, then consider reducing the intensity and length of your workout. Instead of going for a run, take a walk, for example.
5. Get plenty of rest
Your body needs to heal. Try to be in bed around 8pm and get more than eight hours sleep, since having a cold can make you feel rundown and you need to keep up your strength.
6. Gargle warm salt water
A warm saltwater gargle can help moisturize a scratchy throat. Gargle with the water for one minute, then spit out. It can help you avoid getting a cold.
