CT scan is useless for diagnosing headache
A new study executed by Canada clinical evaluation scientific research institute shows, CT scan is useless for diagnosing headache.
CT scan is the computer medical X-ray tomography. The Canadian researchers introduce that the hospital Ontario, Canada had CT scan for 3930 of patients in 2005, there are 623 people accept scanning because pure headache and no other symptoms.
The survey found that in these patients who accepted CT scan for a headache only about 2.1% of people found some potential reason which may lead to headache after scanning, others’ CT scan is useless.
Researcher says that patients’ head need to accept more than once CT scan in diagnosis and treatment process. Now people are more and more concerned about the abuse of CT scan and its radiation risks. But the study showed that with the aid of CT scan to search headache causes of efficiency is very low, so doctor should try to avoid CT scan for headache sufferers.
