Mayo Clinic Chooses Epic Systems for Long-Term Strategic Healthcare Partnership
Time:2015-2-12 3:21:05 Author:admin
Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota, USA), a nonprofit worldwide leader in medical research and education, has selected Epic Systems (Verona, Wisconsin, USA), a healthcare software provider to replace three different existing Electronic Health Record (EHR) with a single Epic EHR and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) system.
Epic EHR systems hold more than half of the medical records of patients in the United States (US), and are installed in large healthcare institutions in the US and worldwide.
The project team will be set up in April 2015, and will include Mayo Clinic and Epic Systems staff, and external consultants. Epic Systems plans to build the system in 2015–2016 and perform system implementation in 2017. The new system will be the foundation for Mayo Clinic operations in the coming decades. The implementation stage will include training of more than 45,000 Mayo Clinic staff to use the EHR and RCM system. The Mayo Clinic Board of Governors and Board of Trustees still need to approve the terms and conditions of the agreement.
Dawn Milliner, MD, chief medical information officer at Mayo commented, “With our staff working together on a common system, we will be able to accelerate innovation, enhance services and provide a better experience for our patients.”
