A new device for testing oxygen saturation pulse oximetry (SpO2) patient monitors can conduct a fast 15-second preventive maintenance test.
The ProSim SPOT Light SpO2 Functional Tester is a lightweight and flexible device that sets up in seconds, sending SpO2 saturation, heart rate, perfusion, transmission, artifact noise, and eight different manufactures custom r-curves to a pulse oximeter or patient monitor at precision plus or minus 1% accuracy. A liquid crystal diode (LCD) display and three custom presets are used to rapidly change parameters and view each signal output sent at a glance. An interchangeable, long-life battery ensures uninterrupted all-day operation without need to connect to a power supply.
The device is designed to take the abuse of everyday use, including the stresses of transportation, moving from room to room and device to device, and the occasional fall from the workbench. The SPOT Light device can be paired with other Fluke Biomedical test tools to test other devices as well, such as using it in conjunction with the Impulse 7000 Defibrillator Analyzer, thus allowing the testing of any external defibrillator with pulse oximetry. The SPOT Light device is a product of Fluke Biomedical (Everett, WI, USA).
“An increasing number of medical devices now have pulse oximetry built in,” said Jamey Smart, product manager for Fluke Biomedical. “Using SPOT Light with ProSim 4 Vital Signs Simulator allows you to easily accomplish this task in hours instead of days.”
