The Smart-Seal surgical mask features a single-tie design that creates a custom seal around the wearer’s nose and mouth, eliminating gaps between the wearer’s face and the mask and helping to reduce contamination risks in the perioperative environment. The “cinch and hug” single-tie design also provides close adaptation to the wearer's face for increased comfort, and the ties themselves are nonabrasive to the skin.
The Smart-Seal also features a closed-cell foam cushions that cover the nose and cheek bones while trapping moisture to prevent fogging, and a fog-reducing vapor barrier; and a large chamber with two rows of sonic bonds help to keep the mask filter away from the wearer’s face and minimize distractions. The Smart-Seal surgical mask is a product of Cardinal Health (Dublin, OH, USA), and provides fluid-resistant protection at 160 mmHg, as well as a bacteria filtration efficiency (BFE) equaling 99.9% and particulate filtration efficiency (PFE) of 99%.
“We developed the Smart-Seal surgical mask in direct response to customer indications that fogging was a problem,” said Lisa Ashby, president of category management at Cardinal Health. “The Smart-Seal mask offers the next evolution in surgical mask protection, addressing not only fog and fit, but also providing the highest level of filtration and fluid resistance.”
