Diabetes Testing Results Remotely Managed and Monitored
Point-of-care (POC) coordinators and laboratory managers can remotely monitor and manage HbA1c and microalbumin testing results using expanded data management solution connectivity.
The new RAPIDComm system is accessible from any computer connected to the hospital-wide network and can be customized to address the needs of different departments, users, and patients. With this system, POC coordinators are able to remotely manage and maximize instrument uptime, simplify instrument control, and operator management.
Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics (Tarrytown, NY, USA) launched the RAPIDComm new data management solution Version 4.0, extending system connectivity to the company’s DCA Vantage diabetes analyzer. The data management system also enhances quality control (QC) management and documentation with automated QC result processing and customizable regulatory reports.
Now point-of-care (POC) laboratory managers are able to rely on a single, advanced user interface to remotely monitor and manage diabetes-testing results, in addition to blood gas via RAPIDSystems, and urinalysis via the CLINITEK Status Connect System. This move further integrates patient data throughout the healthcare network.
With decentralized testing, POC coordinators may be responsible for monitoring large numbers of instruments spread throughout a hospital or various hospital sites, which are operated by several hundred to several thousand operators.
“Healthcare professionals that manage POC testing in hospitals, clinics, and physician offices are increasingly looking to integrate their instruments with a data management solution to reduce transcription errors and better manage data, quality control, and operators, which ultimately helps to improve patient care,” said David Stein, PhD, CEO, Point of Care Business Unit, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. “A key priority for Siemens is to continue the innovation of our instruments and data management solutions to provide our POC customers with innovative and flexible connectivity options.”
