Wireless Handheld Ultrasound Device Enables Rapid Cardiac and Vascular Assessments at POCWireless Handheld Ultrasound Device Enables Rapid Cardiac and Vascular Assessments at POC
Cardiovascular disease is a globally prevalent ailment that often becomes a critical condition, calling for swift diagnosis and treatment. To address this, a portable and wireless ultrasound imaging system empowers clinicians to efficiently obtain and view crystal clear cardiac and vascular images right at the point of care (POC). This streamlines processes, prevents overburdening conventional radiology resources, and allows clinicians to make prompt care decisions, ensuring timely treatment plans for patients.
GE HealthCare (Chicago, IL, USA) has introduced the Vscan Air SL, a handheld wireless ultrasound imaging system for rapid cardiac and vascular assessments at the point of care, aiding clinicians in expediting diagnosis and treatment decisions. As the newest addition to the Vscan product range, the Vscan Air SL is equipped with GE HealthCare's exclusive SignalMax and XDclear technology, offering exceptional penetration, resolution, and sensitivity in imaging, all powered by an industry-leading single crystal transducer technology.
Clinicians can use the pocket-sized and portable Vscan Air SL for comprehensive whole-body scanning and secure image viewing. Additionally, the Vscan Air + Digital Tools subscription provides clinicians with a range of user-friendly solutions designed to enhance workflow through secure collaboration, image management, and device features. The Vscan Air SL is currently available for commercial use in key countries across Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. In the United States, the Vscan Air SL has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is set to become commercially available in the current quarter.
“Vscan Air SL enables clinicians to make quick cardiac assessments and adds to our broad portfolio of ultrasound technologies to help further inform clinical decision making at the point of care,” said Dietmar Seifriedsberger, Global General Manager, Point of Care and Handheld Ultrasound at GE HealthCare. “This newest innovation demonstrates our commitment to providing integrated solutions resulting in better standard of care delivery — and ultimately helping clinicians improve patient outcomes.”
